A few years ago I created a Free Comic Book Resource of Sketch Cards that artist could print at home. Giving them the ability to print their own 2 1/2″ by 3 1/2″ regular sized artist collectible sketch cards. A lot of artists like drawing and selling this cards at comic cons and on-line. At a few cons that I’ve attended in the past few years I noticed some comic artists sketching on postcards now. What a great idea I thought, so I hit the web looking to purchase blank Artist Postcards. I only found a few places that sell them, and they weren’t cheap. So I decided to create my own.
I’ve created 2 Sketch Postcard sheets, A front postcard sheet and a back postcard sheet. Each sheet has 2 cards on them that can be printed on regular 8 1/2″ by 11″ paper. I suggest printing these on card stock paper or cutting down a bristle board to 8 1/2″ to 11″. The better quality Bristol boards are archival. I’ve placed crop marks so it’s easy to cut the postcards out with a ruler and an x-acto knife. Just follow the dotted line to cut them out. You can also use scissors if you like. Each postcard measures 4 1/2″ by 6 1/2″.
These sketch postcards can give artists a new opportunity to share their work. They are great for comic fans that want their favorite artist’s artwork. This size is easy to store and collect. Larger then the popular sketch card and more affordable then sketch covers.
Here are some free high resolution pdf files. Go ahead and download them and have fun creating some awesome Sketch Postcards. I’ll be posting more Free Comic Book Resources every week.
